Tim Blaney to voice Number 5 in upcoming film

That's right, i heard it from the horse's mouth! Well, indirectly. It goes like this, see?
I moved to Los Angeles about a month ago, and had been looking for a job for weeks, when this ad on craigslist comes up for a robot store, called Rolling Robots. I jumped at the opportunity, I applied, interviewed, got hired! (Awesome job, by the way, I'm building robots all the time, just like Steve Guttenberg!) So the owner was telling me about how busy they were over christmas, and that a lot of celebrities stopped in. He told me that one fellow who visited in particular, struck up a conversation with one of the employees about the upcoming Short Circuit remake. The employee said he doubted it would be any good, as remakes usually never are.
But the guy persisted, and said
"No, I think it's going to be pretty good. They got the original guy to come back and voice the robot again."
The employee said,
"How do you know?"
The customer responded,
"Because I'm the guy!"
The man proved it by performing Number Five's voice on the spot.

At this point, I interrupted my boss's story, because I was about ready to explode with excitement. "TIM BLANEY WAS HERE?!"
My boss laughed, and said, "I don't know the guy's name, but yeah, it was him."

So, there you have it. One one hand, I was ecstatic to find out that one of my great film heroes had been there. On the other hand, I was bummed that I'd missed him by mere few weeks.
Here's hoping he comes back!

that's amazing! so great to hear that Tim is coming back to do the voice. I too also feel that the film won't be very good, but who knows, I could be wrong.

I hope it really was Tim. He once told me that there have been a number of imposters over the years, including some stand-up comedian who used to publicly claim to be the voice of Number Five. I would have made the guy in the robot shop show me his American Express card!

That's just... unbelievable. I wish I was there.

I hope Zach Braff doesn't replace Tim Blaney in the remake. If he did, I wouldn't even bother to be first in line to see it.

Uhm....I gotta admit I just read all of these spam posts after reading this one because I was wondering if the rest were just as morbidly surreal.

The rest are pretty plain, meh. The IKEA one made me snort, though.
Enclosed is something called a chili dog!

I didn't read all of the spam in this topic. They were already deleted by another mod before I could see them! Good job to whoever has done it!

On the topic at hand, I would be very happy to have Tim back to do Johnny Five's voice for the SC remake. Let's hope this is true! It would be one good news for the upcoming film so far....

Entertainment Tonight reported on movie re-makes on Tuesday this week and one of them was Short Circuit so if ET is saying it's being done then they would know? Why report it's being done and not know right?

It's really good to hear that Tim is coming back. He was a very talented artist and I am a great fan of him. I wish Tony all the best in his career ahead and hope he can do better works in the coming back season.
